Hounskull publica su nuevo disco de estudio, “The Faces of Evil”

Title: “The Faces of Evil” – Hounskull (Self-Released, 20 October 2023)

Hounskull’s “The Faces of Evil” is a psychedelic metal adventure filled with heroes, gods, and unexpected tempo changes, inspired by RPG, computer games, and D&D. The album is their most experimental and intricate yet, drawing musical inspiration from 70s prog, doom, and stoner metal.

Opening with the intro track “Beginnings,” inspired by old video title screens, the album sets the stage for an epic journey. The title track introduces the party members: the Goblin Priest, Star Bard, and Clockwork Wizard, against a backdrop of distorted guitars, riffs, and time signature changes. In “Clockwork Wizard,” inspired by the 1971 film “The Abominable Dr. Phibes,” the Wizard crafts potions to alter time perception.

The album features a trio of tracks based on ‘control, alt, delete.’ “Take Over,” representing ‘control,’ features a long instrumental where the hero takes on an omnipotent God in the sunless citadel. “Altær,” representing ‘alt,’ is a fuzz-fueled track with psychedelia and thrash elements. “Universal Cosmic Destroyer,” symbolizing ‘delete,’ showcases a variety of time signature, rhythm, and tempo changes.

The album concludes with “Lapse of Existence,” narrated from the perspective of someone at a tavern retelling the hero’s story, and “Mother of All,” an outro reprise of “Beginnings” in a doom metal style.

Hounskull, a psychedelic metal trio, formed in 2016 and draws influences from bands like Slough Feg, Brocas Helm, and Black Sabbath. Their creativity is fueled by video games, RPGs, and card games, with references to Magic The Gathering and D&D hidden within their music. They have opened for bands like Alien Weaponry and Graveyard.
